Women of solidarity. Spain is the country with the largest number of organ donors in the world. This fact highlights the solidarity conditions of the country; that is, Spanish legislation does not consider an economic retribution for donation, it is always altruistic.
Donors take up contact with our clinics through advertisements in the press, advertisements in university, and above all, recommendations from other donors.
In Ginemed, we follow a rigorous selection process of our donors, in which we consider factors such as age, medical situation, genetic and psychological conditions, body mass index, family history and outlook and attitude towards life.
THE SUCCESS OF OUR PROGRAMME: DUE TO THE RIGOROUS SELECTION OF OUR DONORS.
ONLY 2 OF EVERY 10 candidates are selected to be donors.
To guarantee the best quality eggbank, firstly, we select the best donors. For this, we fix indicators such as health status (physical and mental) fertility and weight.
Although not concluding factors, they are important for the recipients together with the phenotype and physical characteristics:
If the donor´s eggs result in pregnancy in the first cycle (calculating the embryos which we transfer in fresh and vitrified) they will be selected to form part of the egg bank.
If they do not result in pregnancy, but are of good quality and produce a good number, we will repeat a second cycle. Following two cycles, (both in fresh and vitrified) if there is no pregnancy given, the donor will automatically be excluded from our donation programme and also, therefore, from the possibility of the forming part of the egg donor bank.
In Ginemed, we don´t market eggs.
We give these to couples who need them at a cost of obtaining these and their maintenance.
